Hi Meaningful Leaders,
I can’t believe we are already in week 3 of this series…I guess time flies when you’re building good habits 😆
As we continue with our “New Year, Bold Moves: The 2025 Leadership Challenge,” this week focuses on the resilience needed to overcome the inevitable obstacles that arise during habit formation. And you and I know that trials will come to us, testing our commitment to our new habits. It’s not a matter of if, but of when…
Strategies for Overcoming Obstacles:
- Anticipate Challenges: Anticipate potential challenges to your new habits and strategize how to overcome them. Be your on devil’s advocate and plan for things that will normally throw you off.
- Build a Support System: Surround yourself with a support network that can hold you accountable and provide encouragement when you falter. Accountability partners are a great source of motivation when our willingness to keep consistent falters.
- Reflect and Adapt: Reflect on your past successes with habit formation and adapt your strategies as needed.
This Week’s Insight:
One of the things that can set you up for success, according to James Clear is NEVER MISS TWICE. Consistency is great, but life gets in the way. If today you missed, give yourself grace but go back to it tomorrow. Not sure about you, but this right here is a great source of relieve, not perfections, but consistency.
Never miss twice” states that one mistake is an outlier in habit formation (e.g. missing a committed workout once) but two mistakes is the beginning of a pattern. The rule allows a mindset shift from a zero sum game, to a realistic behavioral change that requires consistency rather than perfection. – James Clear
To inspire you to never miss twice, here’s a cool illustration of this from @WisdonMadeEasy

Take Action:
Identify a recent challenge to your new habits and apply the strategies discussed to reinforce your commitment. How can you better anticipate, prepare for, and overcome these obstacles? Who can help you stay the course?
Let’s strengthen our leadership through perseverance and resilience, turning every trial into a triumph.

Thank you for reading and God bless you,

Rooted in Jesus and always rooting for you! 🎉
